I am also a big fan of the shop which is both original, expansive and wide ranging in the goodies that it sells

Regarding refunds-under consumer law it is left to the shops discretion as to refund or not and they are well within their rights to issue a credit note instead of money. But I agree that this should be made clear before the unsuspecting consumer buys anything.
